Business Process Mapping

The health of your business is intimately related to the leanness of your business processes.  But most organizations carry extra weight in the form of inefficient processes. At Emercomm we utilize Business Process Mapping to help us eliminate risk.  With BPM we can document processes and identify bottlenecks that are keeping you from peak efficiency and profit.

There are four basic steps to BPM:

  • Process Identification – attaining a full understanding of all the steps of a process
  • Information Gathering – identifying objectives, risks, and key controls in a process.
  • Interviewing and mapping – understanding the point of view of everyone in the process and designing the maps.
  • Analysis – utilizing tools and approaches to make the process run more effectively and efficiently.

BPM can be used for many processes including: business process re-engineering,  ERP systems review, regulatory compliance, service level agreement, simulations and internal audit.   BPM is beneficial because new or changed processes can be documented in advance of a change to lower the risk of failure.  BPM supports lean initiatives.
